D.Pharm, or Diploma in Pharmacy, is a 2-year diploma course designed for students who want to pursue a career in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. It is an entry-level program that provides basic knowledge of pharmacy, drug manufacturing, dispensing, and patient care. The course is regulated by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and is a prerequisite for becoming a registered pharmacist in India. The curriculum of D.Pharm includes both theoretical and practical training in subjects like Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy, and Drug Store Management. After completing the two years of study, students also undergo a mandatory 3-month internship in a hospital or pharmacy setting..
To be eligible for D.Pharm, students must have completed 10+2 (Science stream) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Mathematics. After successful completion, graduates can register with the State Pharmacy Council and work as licensed pharmacists in hospitals, community pharmacies, or drug stores.
